Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth until they begin school, no matter their family’s income.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library can help children love to read just by having print books at home. Every child enrolled will have books of their very own, at no cost to parents, thanks to Marion County Early Childhood Task Force, Families and Communities Together, Inc., and Dolly Parton. Each month a new, carefully selected book will be mailed in the child’s name directly to their home until the child turns five years old and as long as they live within Marion County.
Parents or guardians can sign up a child by submitting an official registration form that can be found on the Imagination Library website.

Early Literacy Program
1000 Books Before Kindergarten
This program is an ongoing early literacy program to get children ready to start reading. Studies have proven that young children who have been read to regularly build the skills they need in order to learn to read. If anyone reads to your child just 1 library book a day for a year, they will have listened to 365 books!
After the children have registered at the library, they will receive a reading chart to record their books. When they complete their first 100 books they will receive a book bag and their next reading chart. The children will receive a prize for every 100 books read till they reach 1000. At 500 books, the child will have a library book dedicated to them that will remain in the library and be a reminder to your family and all the families in our community about the importance of early literacy!
Let’s see what we can accomplish together to benefit our children.
*Update to this program: It is in the process of being revised so that children can still participate but with an online program. We will give further information as it is known.
